About this species

The Indian tiger centipede is a legendary tier collector species and one of the most recognizable Asian Scolopendra. Its combination of large size, unusual behavior, and incredible warning colors makes it look almost unreal.

Adults have a heavy body covered in alternating black and orange bands, with matching orange legs and antennae. Large individuals can exceed 20 cm.

It is an active predator that may explore during both the day and night. Its usual prey includes insects and other invertebrates, but it has also been documented overpowering and eating a small snake.

Care is more demanding than that of many common tropical centipedes. It requires stable warmth and high ventilation.
