About this species
The piceoflava centipede is one of the more colorful Indonesian centipedes. Adults can reach around 18 cm. They have a black body with yellow to orange bands on each segment, and their legs have contrasting yellow and black coloration.
The original pieceoflava specimen was recorded from Tomohon. Like other tropical Scolopendra, it lives in humid burrows and hunts small invertebrates at night.
Care is similar to that of other tropical Asian centipedes. It requires warm temperatures, high humidity, and substrate for burrowing or a hiding place. It is extremely fast and defensive and can jump short distances, making feeding risky if the enclosure is not tall enough.
